We’ve been working on Proto-type’s new opera project The Good, The God and the Guillotine for the past few days and its starting to get juicy. For the first time in many years, Proto-type are working with live musicians, but these live musicians play the laptop. Part of what we are working on is figuring out how to expose the mechanics of ‘playing ‘ a laptop since we all have relationships with computers. We’re also working out how we conceive of ‘opera’ and have discovered that a lot of what we are interested in is more like concert. We’ve got a ways to go, but here is a snap from our rehearsals so far.
