Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to the FAQ page for Dr. Peter Petralia. I wear two professional hats—and this site is the place where they meet.

On one side, I’m a strategic consultant and facilitator through Modern Craft, where I help organizations navigate complexity and design for impact. On the other, I’m an award-winning writer for theater, film, and television, telling stories that explore transformation, desire, and power.

Below you’ll find answers to some common questions about both sides of my work. If you don’t see your question here, feel free to get in touch.

What does Dr. Petralia do?

I split my time between two professional domains:

  • Modern Craft: I help teams and organizations develop strategy, improve collaboration, design innovative programs, and evaluate impact. This work includes facilitation, research, and strategy creation.

  • Creative Work: I write for theater, television, and film. My scripts often explore the tensions between what we believe and what we do—and are informed by decades of work in performance and storytelling.

Both paths are grounded in the same impulse: to create meaningful transformation through insight, structure, and story.

What services are available through Modern Craft?

Through Modern Craft, I offer:

  • Strategy & Organizational Design

  • Workshop Design & Facilitation

  • Annual Planning

  • Process, Tools, and People Consulting

  • Brand Strategy

  • Ad-Hoc Consulting for Mission-Driven Teams

I specialize in helping foundations, NGOs, cultural institutions, and misson-driven corporations clarify their purpose, process, and potential.

What kind of writing do you do?

I write original works that feature underdogs, weirdos, and losers who are going through it, for:

  • Theater – Including experimental and devised performance

  • Television – With a focus on character-driven drama and comedy

  • Film – Including genre, drama, and speculative fiction

My creative work has been presented internationally, and I’ve collaborated with producers, performers, and directors across multiple media. Current projects include two feature-length screenplays, a new play, and two television pilots.

How do these two paths connect?

Whether I’m working with a foundation or writing for the screen, I’m fundamentally interested in transformation—how people, systems, and stories change over time.

My consulting work sharpens my sense of structure and systems. My creative work deepens my empathy and imagination. Together, they keep me curious, rigorous, and responsive.

Who do you work with?

  • Cultural Institutions

  • Corporate Leaders
